Kathryn L. Koons
Founder / Of Counsel
As a 5th generation Texan and native Dallasite, Kathy learned early what she was supposed to be. Her father, uncle, grandfather, and her great-grandfather were all Texas attorneys. Now she continues the proud Texas tradition.
Practice Description:
Kathy has practiced in the area of commercial real estate law since 1983. She has represented large and small companies, investors, and developers in the acquisition, disposition, development, management, builders, leasing, and operation of raw land, residential subdivisions, apartments, office buildings, condominiums, townhomes, retail and shopping centers, and other types of real estate.
Kathy also has extensive experience mixed-use developments, negotiating partnerships and asset-protected entities, and financing documents of all types. She has worked from the initial phase of a mixed-use project to develop a comprehensive high-end master planned community involving retail, multi-family, hotel, office, and hospital uses.
Finally, Kathy has extensive experience in working for borrowers in workouts, loan purchases and “REO” sales related to distressed assets of all types.

B.A. in Journalism, English minor, Texas Tech University, Magna Cum Laude, 1980
J.D., Dedman School of Law, Southern Methodist University, 1983 (where she was an editor on Law Review)
